I am a normal girl who was born in Atlanta,
Georgia. Because of marital problems between
my parents, they left me with my aunt ever
since I was just a baby. Raised in a strict
family, I was unable to do the things I
wanted to do, wasn't allowed to be on the
phone, not even able to have friends. The
only time I was allowed out of the house is
if I was either going to school or getting
the mail. I guess you can say I had to kiss
my dreams goodbye. As time passed by, things
became worse between the family and I. It
had gotten to the point where living wasn't
even on my mind. I went from being stressed,
to depressed, to attempting to end my life.
Then I met someone who had changed my life,
someone who made me realize that life isn't
easy, but I can't just give up. He opened my
eyes to things I wasn't able to see on my
own. He walked into my life and stayed by
myside when my world came crashing down. And
from then on, my life made a dramatic turn.
I spent awhile trying to get in contact with
my mom, and when I finally did, I decided to
move in with her in North Carolina. It was
hard for me to leave Atlanta, but most of
all, it was hard for me to leave the person
that changed my life, my boyfriend. I knew
my life was going to change. It was hard at
first going to a new school, trying to make
new friends, and getting use to living in
the country. One day, as I layed in my bed,
I thought about my past. Then it hit me,
what about my dream? What about what I
wanted to do all along, but wasn't able to?
I can't just let that slip away, I have to
chase afer it. Coincidently, I saw an ad for
Model Search America and signed up, not
knowing it was real. I had a call one day
that shocked me, it was the agents and model
scouts from MSA. They told me I was one of
the lucky one that is chosen to go to Vegas
for a runway show. After that, I knew that
was what I wanted to do, to model. Right
when I thought nothing could go wrong,
family problems started to occur. Although I
tried to hang on and concentrate on pursing
my career, family members tried to talk me
out of it. Telling me I'm not good enough, I
would never be able to become a model. It
got me thinking, if my families don't
believe in me, who will? Then I thought
about the one person that has been there for
me, and made me realize, if nobody believes
me, all I have to do is believe in myself.
Although I'm just a local celebrity, I've
had many people from different places come
to me and tell me that I inspire them. To
hear that from someone I don't know, made me
feel good because not only am I trying to
purse my dream, but I'm also helping others
have faith in themselves. And that's the
best feeling ever to me. My journey hasn't
ended yet, but I'm thankful for everything
that happened so far. It made me stronger
and it helped me believe in myself. I also
want to thank everyone who has been
supporting me, if it wasn't for you, I
wouldn't be where I am today.
