J. REYEZ

Interview:
conducted by
 Lexy & Rainsey A.K.A Silliboi

JiZO: Hey J. Reyez. Thanks for taking the time out to do this interview with JiZO Entertainment. Why don't you give our readers and your newest fans a bit of an introduction for us? =) [Lexy]

J.R: Hi, my name is J.Reyez and I make music LOL
The J stands for Justin and Reyez is pronounced J.Rise (Eyez with an R) and the word reyes in Spanish means to be like a king, on top of things and I had no idea it was a Filipino last name until it was too late LOL I am 100% Korean though. Born in Seoul and raised in Canada.

JiZO: You're Originally from Canada. How do Canadian fans differ from the fans in the U.S.? [Lexy]

J.R: I don't see much of a difference because they both show support and appreciate what I do which I'm very grateful for.

JiZO: You're really multi-talented. Your "resume" of skills consists of writing lyrics, recording, performing live, producing, mixing and mastering songs, directing and editing videos, photography and graphic designing. Is there anything else you're wanting to pick up to add to that great list of things? [Lexy]

J.R: Haha I just try really hard to do as much as I can that will benefit my music career and I think I do a lot already so at the moment I just want to focus on those things but maybe in the future I would like to pick up on more skills with business and what not.

JiZO: What has been the biggest influence to you, musically? [Lexy]

J.R: I really don't know. Not no one specifically. I would just say music itself has influenced and inspired me. It's a beautiful thing.

JiZO: Out of all the performances/shows that you have done so far, which one would you say has been the best one? [Rainsey]

J.R: I would say Kollaboration was the best one because we had a lot of fun on stage and it was an honour to be able to have a community of Koreans see me perform and hold it down and the crowd response was amazing.

JiZO: Have you been anywhere in the U.S. yet? [Rainsey]

J.R: I wish lol. I have never been to the U.S. before but I hope to really soon! It'd be great seeing how it is in the U.S. and I do plan on coming through in the near future.

JiZO: I notice that one of the things that attracts your ear when listening to other rap/hip-hop artists is the lyrics that are spoken in the track(s). Do you have any favorite lyrics? If so, list a few if you don't mind. [Rainsey]

J.R: "No one knows my struggle, they only see the trouble. Not knowing it's hard to carry on when no one loves you" - 2Pac

JiZO:  You became mature at a very young age due to the obstacles that you have have gone through so far in your life. If it wasn't for these obstacles, would you still be involved in "MUSIC"? [Rainsey]

J.R: Yes I believe I would still have that passion for music and would have pursued it regardless. When I was younger I took piano, guitar and drum lessons and I was always interested in doing something with music.

JiZO: How's the love life going? Are you seeing/talking to anyone? [Rainsey]

J.R: It has its ups and downs. I am currently not with anyone as of right now. I'd say it's hard to come across the right person who will hold you down and support what you do no matter what but when that time comes I'll know.

JiZO: If you had a chance to work with a famous rapper/hip-hop artist/producer from the U.S., who would it be? [Rainsey]

J.R: It would be great working with T.I. or the whole Shady Aftermath camp with 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, Eminem. They've all made a big impact on the music industry music and business-wise.

JiZO: You have made a lot of accomplishments so far. Which one would you say is your biggest accomplishment? [Rainsey]

J.R: I would say my biggest accomplishment is having fans that appreciate my music and listen to it on the regular. I am overwhelmed till this day how many people take their time to listen and even though I haven't made it big yet, it's still a blessing.

JiZO: What kind of things do you like to do other than "MUSIC"? [Rainsey]

J.R: I like sunsets and long walks on the beach hahaha

JiZO: What advice would you give to all the other "Asian" Artists out there who is trying to make a name for themselves? [Rainsey]

J.R: Be yourself and stay original. Don't be like everybody else and try your best, invest your time and money, believe in what you do and one day you will succeed.

JiZO: How would you describe your music to our readers? [Rainsey]

J.R: A lot of my songs are inspired by personal life experiences I go through that I hope some people can relate to but I always switch it up and try to stay consistent with different styles. Sometimes I might have a song for the ladies, sometimes I might have a song for the club, the hip hop heads, motivation, and so on and so on.

JiZO: How did you feel whenever you heard your track "Suffocate" Featuring Chris Jackson on Buffalo NY's radio station 93.7 WBLK? [Rainsey]

J.R: Chris and I just finished performing suffocate together live for the first time at the Roger's Spring Music Festival and it was the first time I ever performed a slow song and the crowd was live, they knew the lyrics to the song and showed mad love and then we headed out after to just chill at some after party and then we heard it come on the radio and it was a pretty overwhelming feeling and it was the first time I ever heard one of my songs on the radio myself.

JiZO: Would you ever consider doing a show down here in Dallas, TX? =P [Rainsey]

J.R: I would love to do a show down in Dallas! I got mad love for the south and the talent that comes out of it. Find me someone to book me in a show down there! Haha
