Shy has broken barriers in the male-dominated industry of deejaying to become one of the most skilled and respected female mixers in the world. As a Korean American, she has redefined the black and Latino landscape of hip-hop music.

Today, Shys biggest role model is her mother, who opened her own business despite little money and limited English skills in a tough town. Shy lives in South Pasadena, CA. and has a Bachelors degree in Finance from Pennsylvania State University and a Masters in Health Administration from the University of Southern California. Shys future endeavors include spinning at sports events, in commercials and film, and writing an autobiography.

JIZO: Wassap DJ Shy? How is it going girl?

DJ Shy
: I'm doing well...very busy and busy is good :-)

JIZO: Please tell me more about yourself. Where did you grow up and where do you currently live?

DJ Shy: I grew up in New Castle, PA where there's a lot of Amish, farmers and KKK Our grocery stores had parking spaces for the horse buggies, and the closest mall was in OHIO.  Now, I live in the City of Angels here in LA.

JIZO: Who was your role model growing up?

DJ Shy: My mom is and has always been my role model.  She raised me and my brother by herself with low income and limited English.  She is a very hard worker, kind, understanding, and always sacrificing for us kids so that we may have a better life.

JIZO: How did you get started in DJing?

DJ Shy: I started at the Laugh Factory where I was originally a hostess.  The owner let me spin and it just blew up from there.

JIZO: Do you ever feel you're stereotyped and judged because you are a female DJ?

DJ Shy: Of course!  But I actually don't mind it cuz I love to shock them when they hear me spin.

JIZO: Name some of the clubs where we can find you spin?

DJ Shy: Club Light at the Bellagio in Vegas, Velvet Palm Night Club in Palm Springs and guest spots all over Hollywood.

JIZO: Are you involved with any other professional activities outside of doing DJ'ing?

DJ Shy: I love martial arts.  I love acting.  So, I combined the two and am currently taking staged choreographed combat training for film.  I learned how to use the nunchuks and the sword.

JIZO: What's in your CD player right now?

DJ Shy: A mixed tape that my friend made for me.  It's a combo of his favorite hits.  Mostly current rock stuff.

JIZO: What are you working on currently in your career?

DJ Shy: I am integrating my DJ skills on screen for TV.  Sometimes I play a DJ for music videos or TV.  But actually, I'm trying to go further than that and land lead roles on film.

JIZO: Do you have a website that we can refer our readers to so they can get to know you better?

DJ Shy: I am a true myspace junkie so please hit me up on www.myspace.com/djshy

JIZO: What can we expect from you in the future?

DJ Shy: Expect the unexpected.  You will hear, read about and see me soon.....

JIZO: Anything else you'd like to add?

DJ Shy
: Seriously, there is a God somewhere out there....if I can do it, so can u.
